The National Association of Broadcasters has released its attendance figures for the NAB Show, the world's largest electronic media show covering filmed entertainment and the development, management and delivery of content across all mediums.  There were over 105,000 registered attendees with a record high of 28,310 international registered attendees.  The NAB Show is the world's largest electronic media show covering the development, delivery and management of professional video and audio content across all mediums.  We at Modern Communications would like to highlight a few of the new products that may be of interest to you, our customer.



             
AG-HMC70 - Shoulder -Mount Camcorder Available in April 2008
AG-HCM150 - Handheld Camcorder Available Fall 2008
  AG-HVX200A - Introduced and scheduled to start shipping the end of April, first of May.  This camcorder features an improved imager which will give it a little higher resolution, better sensitivity and a better signal to noise ratio. 
AG-HPX500 - Right before NAB Panasonic announced a new rebate program for this popular camcorder.  Panasonic is now offering an End User Rebate of $2,000. The rebate runs through June 30, 2008.  The 5 year warranty remains as standard as long as the camera is registered within 30 days.
BT-LH1760 - New 120Hz monitor introduced to the LCD line.  This new monitor offers wide off axis viewing and color reproduction and provides the motion handling and latency advantages formerly provided only in CRT monitors. (This is not a replacement for the existing popular BT-LH1700W).
AW-HE100 - High quality integrated Pan/Tilt/Zoom HD/SD camera system.
AG-HPX170 - Coming this Fall, it will be similiar to the existing AG-HVX200, but will not have a tape transport and will offer HD/SDI output.
AJ-HPX2700 - Varicam 2700, P2 version of the exixting Varicam, Native 720p, 1.0 megapixel.  5 year warranty available.
AJ-HPX3700 - Varicam 3700, P2 version fo the exixting Varicam, Native 1080p, 2.2 megapixel.  5 year warranty available.

 


 

Vaddios New Quick-Connect CCU Wins Broadcast Engineering's Pick Hit at NAB 2008

Vaddio pulled in the crowds this year at NAB with the new Quick-Connect CCU Camera Control Unit, the only camera control unit for the Sony Robotic PTZ Cameras that enables you to adjust IRIS, GAIN, COLOR, and DETAIL.  Other ever-popular solutions included the WallVIEW Z700 and the H700 PRO series as well as the new HD monitors, CeilingVIEW HD document cameras and the completely automated tracking system, TrackVIEW.

Quick-Connect CCU
The first Camera Control Unit for Sony Robotic PTZ Cameras, the Vaddio Quick-Connect CCU enables you to adjust IRIS, GAIN, COLOR and DETAIL with the turn of a knob. You can finally take control of PTZ Camera image output allowing you to easily adjust each camera individually and match multiple cameras. In addition, there are two Scene store buttons, allowing the user to save specific color matched images, such as day & night, lighting changes or multi locations.

The Vaddio WallVIEW Universal PRO Z700 is built around the Sony BRC-Z700 high definition pan/tilt/zoom camera. With three-1/4 type CMOS megapixel sensors and a 20x optical zoom lens, the WallVIEW Universal PRO HD-Z700 is an ideal choice for a wide range of high definition video applications. Ross Video announced the launch of Vision Quattro at NAB 2008. Vision Quattro is a family of production switchers and is the next step in the evolution of the award winning Vision series, launched at NAB 2007.

Vision Quattro offers a choice of 7 different control panel models, 2 rackframe sizes and 3 configurations. The control panel models include the Vision 1 1 MLE 16 crosspoint button panel, Vision 1M 1 MLE 24 crosspoint button panel, Vision 2 2 MLE 16 crosspoint button panel, Vision 2M 2 MLE 24 crosspoint button panel, Vision 2X 2 MLE 32 crosspoint button panel, Vision 3 3 MLE 32 crosspoint button panel and Vision 4 4 MLE 40 crosspoint button panel.

The small chassis, Quattro MD, is a compact 3RU, offering four full 4-keyer MEs and 48 Multi-Definition inputs. The large chassis, Quattro MD-X, offers four full 4-keyer MLEs, 6 keys downstream, and 96 multi-definition inputs.
The 3 configuration options are Vision Quattro Multi-Definition – full 4 keyer per MLE system, Vision Quattro Multi-Definition – 2 Keyer per MLE system, and Vision Quattro Standard-Definition – 4 keyer per MLE system.

“The Vision Quattro series are the most powerful and flexible production switchers we make,” said David Ross. “The QMD rackframe with 4 MLEs in 3RU is truly remarkable and I am sure will be a favorite in mobile and live event applications in which space and portability are important.”

Ross Video also announced the MLE for Free promotion on the Vision Quattro Series. Customers buying this new series switcher will have their rackframes upgraded with an additional MLE of processing electronics at no extra charge.




                  With the success of sales of the ProHD product line in the broadcast arena, JVC is creating a new Broadcast Sales Rep (BSR) program designed to serve broadcast networks and group station owners in the United States. In announcing the new program, JVC Division Vice President for Digital Video, Lawrence Librach says, “We feel it is the appropriate time for JVC to introduce a direct-to-market broadcast operation to best serve broadcast and production organizations."
The new JVC Broadcast Sales Rep program will offer several key products not currently available through JVC's dealer network. Those products include the award winning “Libre” dockable camera-mounted microwave system. The BSR program will also offer a special broadcast version of the successful GY-HD250, which includes a newly developed LoLux feature, designed specifically for broadcast ENG applications. LoLux is available to the market exclusively through the new JVC Broadcast Rep program, and provides ENG news crews with increased sensitivity in very low light situations. Other products available to customers through the Rep program include the DM-JV6000U HDTV encoder as well as the full product complement available through the dealer channels.

 

 


 



          Avid Announces Media Composer version 3.0
 
The world’s leading editing system is now available in a new 3.0 version providing a flexible, affordable package for Mac and Windows based systems. With 3.0 Avid Media Composer has been completely redesigned to give users a reliable editing package that takes advantage of today’s more powerful computer and graphics hardware as well as the latest operating systems.
 
At a price of $2495, (software only) Avid Media Composer offers a powerful stand-alone solution or can be packaged with custom-engineered I/O solutions. Options inlcude Avid Mojo SDI, Avid Mojo DX and Avid Nitris DX. Current Avid Xpress Pro customers can upgrade to Avid Media Composer for only $495.
 
The newest version of Media Composer also features a full set of collaborative tools and support for Total Conform and media interchange with other Avid systems. Additional compatibly with Avid Unity media networks and Avid Interplay offers Media Composer users an enhanced workflow and network aware editing environment.

Avid Announces New RealtimeSD and HD Editing Hardware
 
In June of 2008 Avid Technology will begin shipping new companion hardware for use with the newly redesigned Media Composer 3.0 software. Along with the existing Mojo SDI the new DX family of products; Mojo DX and Nitirs DX, will allow editors to “mix and match” their software and hardware options to create a package tailored to their specific needs.
