Merry Christmas From Modern Communications!

Happy Holidays

The arrival of the Holiday Season reminds us to reflect on the year and say “Thank You” to all of our wonderful customers and friends for their business, smiles, and friendship.

Our Staff has changed and grown in 2006:
•      In February, our secretary of 15 years retired with her husband to Lake of the Ozarks. She has been missed, but we are very excited for her. The new friendly voice on the other end of the telephone is Melissa Maddock. Melissa is eager and available to direct your phone calls and to assist with all your accounting needs.
•     In October, our Avid Specialist, Ginger Routh decided to pursue a new opportunity. We are very excited to bring on James Martin as her replacement. James comes to us from Lindenwood University and Edward Jones.
The Service Staff has also been busy servicing products from facilities throughout the United States. Therefore, we have hired Philip Godfrey as a part-time Service Technician.
 •     We have also added a “new baby” to our organization.   Tom and Sarah Johnson are the proud parents of Brooke Addison delivered on September 7th. This makes Bill Johnson a first-time, very proud Grandpa!

We are excited about our new “Modern Communications Team” and hope you will embrace them as you have all of us.

The Broadcast and Professional product lines continue to help us become stronger in the market. Panasonic, Hitachi, Avid, Ross, and many others are driving these markets. The Church, Auditorium, Class Room, and Corporate Training Rooms keep our engineering and installation staff busy. We greatly appreciate all of you for helping us in 2006 and look forward to working with you in 2007.

From all of us at Modern Communications we would like to wish you and your family the
“Happiest of Holidays” and the “Very Best in the New Year.”

“Don, Cindy, Bill, Bob, David, Tom, Bob, Chris, Josh, Tom, Melissa, James, & Philip”

Panasonic AJ-HPM100 PS HD Mobile Enhances Workflow

Panasonic is excited to announce that the AJ-HPM100 P2 Mobile is now shipping. This highly flexible and rugged
DVCPRO solid-state memory recorder/player is ideal for ENG, field production and postproduction applications. An enhancement to P2’s efficient workflow, the P2 Mobile features multi-format operations with a six-slot P2 card reader, versatile inputs/outputs (HD-SDI, IEEE 1394, USB 2.0) and up/down/cross conversion between 1080i and 720p and between high definition and standard definition formats. Plus, the P2 Mobile combines professional editing controls with audio faders, a 9-inch widescreen LCD monitor with stereo speakers, all in a compact, magnesium die-cast body. The AJHPM100 P2 HD Mobile is the ideal solution for field recording (including pool feeds) and video production, as well as for use in mobile vans or in desktop nonlinear/ linear editing systems.

With its extensive functionality and multiple-format video capabilities, the P2 Mobile is the “Bridge” product that allows you to work in both the AV and IT worlds, in high definition or standard definition, thereby bridging the gap between the P2 file format and baseband video.

The P2
Mobile’s ‘Bridge’ capabilities enable it to excel in projects that require multiple video, audio, IEEE1394, RS-422 serial control and can take advantage of the USB 2.0 interfaces to connect with industry-standard disk drives for consolidation or viewing of P2 card content. The P2 Mobile supports flexible compression options, including industry standard DVCPROHD/50/25 and the new AVC-Intra codec (an optional board to be available in July 2007). AVC-Intra is an ultra-efficient technology that is the first intra frame only member of the H.264 compression family. AVC-Intra delivers stunning quality video at remarkably low data rates across a wide range of bandwidths, such as Mobile Phones, iPods, Blu-Ray, Internet and Satellite delivery. For example, Dish Network is using it to triple the number of high definition channels (3 to 1) over their  existing satellite network.

Panasonic’s professional implementation of AVC-Intra offers two modes: AVC-Intra 100 Mbps for higher-end, fullbit HD quality and AVC-Intra 50 Mbps, with highly-efficient encoding for increased storage times (in 50 Mbps mode you get twice the  recording time on a P2 card) with superb image quality. In both modes, AVC-I delivers full 10 bit, high-quality video and infra-frame compression, eliminating long GOP editing difficulties.  For more information contact us at 636-343-0800 or 800-428-2442.  To view the complete brochure, click here.
